The Legend
When Land Rover announced Defender production was coming to an end, they decided to celebrate with the Year of the Defender – 12 months of special events, launches and publications, one of which was a bespoke media pack with a big difference!
Four weeks before print, this publication was just a concept.
When the client said yes, I built a team around me to get the job done. The result was two perfect-bound storybooks, a giant fold-out adventure map, postcards and a limited-edition series of pop-out-and-build cardboard Defenders – all presented in a period-style box envelope complete with string fastener and passport-style stamps on the cover.
I also created additional film content:
Lines in the Sand
Shoot at Anglesey Bay in Wales where the design was created, this film chronicles the work of a team of sand artists as they attempt to draw a 1km-wide silhouette of the iconic Defender on the beach.
Defender Fever
When the 2,000,000th model rolled off the production line, Land Rover put it into a charity auction at Bonhams. So we made “Defender Fever” - a London takeover film using lots of cleverly-placed clues to tell the vehicle’s unique story.
Defender 2,000,000th
This film follows a team of celebrities and VIPs, including Bear Grylls and Theo Paphitis, as they build the milestone vehicle.
